Hulp bij rampen
GEM is toegewijd aan het bieden van onmiddellijke hulp aan regio's die getroffen zijn door natuurrampen. Wanneer een ramp toeslaat, mobiliseren we onze voorgeprogrammeerde middelen en zijn we binnen 48 uur ter plaatse om de getroffenen te helpen. Er zijn twee fasen binnen onze pijler Rampenherstel: onmiddellijke respons en hulp op lange termijn. In de eerste fase brengt GEM grootschalige humanitaire hulp en voorraden naar de mensen die het zonder middelen moeten stellen. Deze hulp varieert per ramp, maar komt over het algemeen in de vorm van voedsel, water, hygiënische voorraden en tijdelijk onderdak. Naarmate de respons overgaat in de volgende fase van langdurige hulp, zal GEM ter plaatse zijn om te helpen met wederopbouwbenodigdheden, huisraad, schoonmaak- en bouwmaterialen en meer. Al deze inspanningen worden gedaan in samenwerking met lokale partners, overheden en bewoners om de gemeenschap zo goed mogelijk te stabiliseren en nieuw leven in te blazen.

The Canadian province of Alberta has experienced 122 wildfires in 2024 already. As of late, the historic town of Jasper suffered tremendous damage from an out of control wildfire, burning over 79,000 acres. Thousands of residents were forced to evacuate.
