Phase 1: Immediate Response
GEM stays committed to an immediate and effective response to unexpected flooding across the USA in 2024. We stood ready to mobilize resources from our multiple branches, with an average response time of 24 hours. From deploying truckloads of aid to collaborating with local first responders, our focus is on providing aid, support, and recovery initiatives to those affected by floods.
California
GEM USA West responded immediately to January’s extensive flooding in San Diego, brought on by a historic rainstorm. Initially responding in South Crest and Shelltown, we supplied community members with Family Necessity Kits, hygiene and baby supplies, and heavy duty cleaning supplies and hazmat boots for cleaning response. Our response in San Diego lasted over a year, which went from immediate support to long term assistance, such as home appliances and large scale aid.
