Phase 1:

Disaster Relief

Global Empowerment Mission responded in the first phase, disaster relief, by providing an immediate response. Highlights of accomplishments in the first 10 days include:

  • Over 2000 cash & gift cards personally handed to people affected by the Paradise #campfire and #Woolsey fires.
  • 200 blankets individually handed out in the #paradise tent cities.
  • Two 18 wheeler trucks and two smaller trucks of aid distributed to 8 Red Cross Shelters in Paradise.

Phase 2

The Gap Period​

Global Empowerment Mission responded in the second phase, the gap period, by defining beneficiary criteria and identifying recipients of vital funds. Many beneficiaries were in dire circumstances and were able to go from sleeping in cars to relocating back into their homes.

GEM Impact:

  • 2,540 Beneficiaries
  • Distributed $350,000 in direct cash cards underwritten by the #BStrong Initiative
    • $80,000 distributed amongst 2,000 beneficiaries
    • $270,000 distributed amongst 540 beneficiaries
  • $1M in donated in-kind supplies for 10,000 ppl

Sustainable Development

Global Empowerment Mission responded in the third phase, sustainable development, by supplying tool for 70 contractors.

Oklahoma Tornado

GEM is presently on the ground in Enid, Oklahoma where a massive tornado destroyed over 40 homes and tore through neighbourhoods. Considered the strongest tornado of the year, so far, the storm has caused disruptions to power and water systems and to the Vance Air Force Base.

Multiple wildfires are currently burning throughout the state of Georgia, with containment efforts stalled due to dry conditions and high winds. The fires have destroyed dozens of homes, forced evacuations in many communities, and put +1,000 more structures at risk.

Hawaii’s islands were recently impacted by the most severe flooding event in over two decades, resulting in widespread damage to residential areas, public infrastructure, and essential services.

A powerful series of winter storms is set to sweep across the United States, bringing heavy snow, ice, and dangerously low temperatures from the Plains to the East Coast. It is estimated that 50% of the USA’s population will be impacted by this storm.

Vietnam
After a series of 19 typhoons and tropical depressions, Vietnam is facing one of the most severe disasters in recent years. Over 400 people have died, 727 have been injured, and more than 337,000 homes have been destroyed.

Hurricane Melissa

Caribbean
Our experienced GEM Caribbean team, based in Kingston, Jamaica, is leading large-scale humanitarian operations across the island in response to Hurricane Melissa. Large scale aid deliveries are underway, with millions of lbs of critical supplies being distributed.

Alaska Typhoon

On October 12th, the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta in remote Alaska was struck by the remnants of Typhoon Halong, bringing in severe flooding. This disaster is one of the most destructive in the region since the 1964 Alaska Earthquake.

Philippines Earthquake

Philippines
On September 30th, the Philippines was struck by a 6.9 magnitude earthquake. It was the strongest quake ever recorded in Northern Cebu, and was followed by thousands of smaller aftershocks. Seventy five people lost their lives, and hundreds of homes have been destroyed.

Afghanistan Earthquake 2025

Afghanistan
On September 1st, a 6.0 magnitude shallow earthquake struck the Eastern Afghanistan provinces of Kunar & Nangarhar. The quake was felt as far as Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, & India; USGS reports over 1.2 million people felt the earthquake & it’s 5 aftershocks.
