Hurricane Willa

A powerful nor’easter storm is impacting the northeastern United States, bringing heavy rain and winds, coastal flooding, and widespread power outages. Coastal communities are facing dangerous surf, beach erosion, road closures, and flooding.

Hurricane Lowell was a powerful Pacific hurricane that intensified to Category 5 strength before tracking toward the Hawaiian Islands in early September 2026.

Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) is mobilizing an international humanitarian response in Nepal, building on the experience of GEM Asia teams that have operated in the country for previous earthquakes.

GEM Europe, in partnership with the Royal Caribbean Group, has mobilized and is responding to the 7.7 magnitude quake off Indonesia’s coast. Dozens of people have lost their lives, hundreds of buildings have been damaged, and critical infrastructure has been impacted.

On August 10th, a 7.4 magnitude quake struck the Western region of Colombia, causing immediate damage and destruction across many areas. The GEM team has already deployed to the area.

Spokane County, Washington is presently being affected by its largest natural disaster in history with the Old Trails, Fairview, and Autumn Lane Fires destroying thousands of acres of land.

On the evening of June 24th, back-to-back earthquakes struck Venezuela, with a 7.1 magnitude quake followed roughly a minute later by an even stronger 7.5 magnitude quake, centered just west of the capital. Buildings have collapsed across Caracas, where rescue crews are searching for survivors.

Early June 8th, The Philippines most populous island of Mindanao was struck by a 7.8 magnitude quake. Immediately, infrastructure was severely damaged and tsunami warnings were put in place for the region.
