Phase 1:

Disaster Relief

Global Empowerment Mission Founder, Michael Capponi, responded in the first phase, of Haiti’s Earthquake on January 15, 2010, some of GEM’s founding board members led a group of firefighters, doctors and nurses to Haiti. This group was part of the first responders who arrived days after the tragic earthquake. The team provided emergency life saving care to hundreds of Haitians suffering injuries from falling debris and unattended wounds for days. The ability to arrive on the scene quickly is absolutely critical to saving lives. For this to occur, a collection of appropriate medical supplies and teams must be ready to go at a moment’s notice. This is part of the foundation and core of gem’s mission.

Phase 2

The Gap Period

Global Empowerment Mission Founder, Michael Capponi, responded in the second phase, the gap period, established and managed a 3000 person tent city for 1 year, as well as a transitional housing village for 50 families.

Phase 3

Sustainable Development

Global Empowerment Mission is currently responding in the third phase, sustainable development, by offering educational programs from elementary school to university level: Ecole Évangélique, Chrétienne de Lauture, Ecole Baptiste de St Cyr, and College Hosanna, Université Quisqueya.

The education, medical, and empowerment program range from:

  • Registration
  • Tuition
  • Uniforms
  • Lunches
  • Transportation
  • Logistics
  • Medical care
  • Field trips
  • After school care
