Phase 1: Disaster Relief By September 12th, 2001 GEM founder, Michael Capponi, along with Miami Beach Mayor Neisen Kasdin, organized a month-long, citywide effort where local businesses donated partial proceeds of their income to the American Red Cross. These donations went to the immediate aid of victims affected by the events of September 11.
