Phase 1: Immediate Response

In August and September, the islands of Hawaii were impacted by both Hurricane Lala and Hurricane Lowell’s impacts.

As both storms approached the Hawaiian Islands, Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) was on the ground and ready to respond. The GEM Hawaii team is currently assisting the affected neighbourhoods on Hawaii Island, Kauai Island, and Ni’ihau Island, offering support and distributing immediate needs. Additionally, long term assistance, such as our Small Business Grant Program, have been implemented.

GEM has a permanent office and team based in Hawaiʻi, allowing us to mobilize quickly and work alongside state, county, and community partners to support communities impacted by the storm.

GEM has stood with Hawaiʻi since the Maui wildfires, and we remain committed to supporting our communities through every stage of disaster response and recovery.

Please consider donating to GEM’s Hawaiian Hurricane response. Your support helps us move quickly and put critical resources directly into the hands of families impacted by disaster.
