Guatemala Earthquakes

Phase 1: Immediate Response

Over the last two weeks, over 350 earthquakes have been felt across Guatemala. Thousands have been affected, with hundreds of homes experiencing extreme damage, forcing families into becoming displaced. The most devastated area, Santa María de Jesús, has had over 50% of its homes damaged. This low-income region is facing the most hardships, with communications and aid deliveries cut off, due to landslides destroying their main road. The GEM LATAM team, stationed in Guatemala, is responding to this disaster and will be assisting affected residents with critical aid supplies. Through established local connections, GEM LATAM will be reaching Santa María de Jesús and providing support to those cut off of off resources.
