Phase 1: Immediate Response

In February 2024, Chile experienced their worst disaster in over a decade. Severe forest fires have devastated the Valparaiso region, having burnt nearly 64,000 acres and forcing thousands to evacuate. The GEM LATAM team deployed immediately from their Guatemala base to assist affected communities with humanitarian aid supplies.

Venezuela Earthquakes

Venezuela
On the evening of June 24th, back-to-back earthquakes struck Venezuela, with a 7.1 magnitude quake followed roughly a minute later by an even stronger 7.5 magnitude quake, centered just west of the capital. Buildings have collapsed across Caracas, where rescue crews are searching for survivors.

Philippines
Early June 8th, The Philippines most populous island of Mindanao was struck by a 7.8 magnitude quake. Immediately, infrastructure was severely damaged and tsunami warnings were put in place for the region.
