Phase 1:

Disaster Relief

Global Empowerment Mission responded in the first phase, disaster relief, by providing an immediate response.

GEM had its assessment teams on the ground within two days of the disaster. With help from a North Carolina prison guard the GEM team and Third Wave Volunteers made it to Fayetteville and assessed three shelters:

  • The True Vine Ministries shelter with Pastor Ernest Jones and Director Chad Beasley
  • The Pinetree Shelter director
  • The Mana Church shelter

 

On Day 2, GEM and The Third Wave Volunteers team headed by Alison Thompson joined the local rescue efforts with the Cajun Navy and conducted search and rescue missions.

On Day 3, $40,000 in gift cards were distributed to the Manna Church shelter and the Pine Forest shelter in Fayetteville along with toys, pet food, food, water and hygiene products which were graciously donated by Bethenny Frankel and Bstrong.

Colombia Earthquake

Colombia
On August 10th, a 7.4 magnitude quake struck the Western region of Colombia, causing immediate damage and destruction across many areas. The GEM team has already deployed to the area.

Spokane County, Washington is presently being affected by its largest natural disaster in history with the Old Trails, Fairview, and Autumn Lane Fires destroying thousands of acres of land.

Venezuela Earthquakes

On the evening of June 24th, back-to-back earthquakes struck Venezuela, with a 7.1 magnitude quake followed roughly a minute later by an even stronger 7.5 magnitude quake, centered just west of the capital. Buildings have collapsed across Caracas, where rescue crews are searching for survivors.

Philippines Earthquake 2026

Early June 8th, The Philippines most populous island of Mindanao was struck by a 7.8 magnitude quake. Immediately, infrastructure was severely damaged and tsunami warnings were put in place for the region.

Lebanon Crisis

The GEM MENA team, alongside our partners HCI & ONSUR, is presently on the ground in Tyre (Soor), Lebanon supporting displaced families and individuals. The ongoing conflict and crisis in Lebanon has left roughly 80% of the population in poverty.

Oklahoma Tornado

GEM is presently on the ground in Enid, Oklahoma where a massive tornado destroyed over 40 homes and tore through neighbourhoods. Considered the strongest tornado of the year, so far, the storm has caused disruptions to power and water systems and to the Vance Air Force Base.
