The GEM team is currently on the ground, having responded immediately during the storm. We are prepositioning trucks of aid and will be distributing critical, large-scale supplies to Hurricane Idalia’s most affected zones in the Florida area.
On August 26th, the Himalayan border region of Nepal & Tibet experienced a major flash flooding event that rapidly engulfed roads, bridges, buildings, and homes. The flooding and subsequent mudslides immediately caused extreme infrastructure damage, damaged critical transportation routes.
GEM Europe, in partnership with the Royal Caribbean Group, has mobilized and is responding to the 7.7 magnitude quake off Indonesia’s coast. Dozens of people have lost their lives, hundreds of buildings have been damaged, and critical infrastructure has been impacted.
GEM Hawaii Pacific is actively pre‑positioning itself for the impact of Tropical Storm/Hurricane Lala, leveraging its existing nationwide infrastructure, warehousing capacity, and proven logistics network to move fast when impact hits.
On August 10th, a 7.4 magnitude quake struck the Western region of Colombia, causing immediate damage and destruction across many areas. The GEM team has already deployed to the area.
Spokane County, Washington is presently being affected by its largest natural disaster in history with the Old Trails, Fairview, and Autumn Lane Fires destroying thousands of acres of land.
On the evening of June 24th, back-to-back earthquakes struck Venezuela, with a 7.1 magnitude quake followed roughly a minute later by an even stronger 7.5 magnitude quake, centered just west of the capital. Buildings have collapsed across Caracas, where rescue crews are searching for survivors.
Early June 8th, The Philippines most populous island of Mindanao was struck by a 7.8 magnitude quake. Immediately, infrastructure was severely damaged and tsunami warnings were put in place for the region.
The GEM MENA team, alongside our partners HCI & ONSUR, is presently on the ground in Tyre (Soor), Lebanon supporting displaced families and individuals. The ongoing conflict and crisis in Lebanon has left roughly 80% of the population in poverty.
GEM is presently on the ground in Enid, Oklahoma where a massive tornado destroyed over 40 homes and tore through neighbourhoods. Considered the strongest tornado of the year, so far, the storm has caused disruptions to power and water systems and to the Vance Air Force Base.
