Colombia declared a disaster situation on Thursday due to wildfires raging across several parts of the country, as the president warned the conditions could get worse.

Early January 2024 tornadoes tore through the Florida Panhandle, causing extensive damages to homes, boats, and businesses in many communities. The GEM team deployed from their Miami HQ with a truck of aid to assist those who were affected.

On November 16th, the GEM Europe team arrived in Iceland to support evacuees, and in anticipation for future volcanic activity. Since late October, Iceland has recorded over 20,000 earthquakes, with as many as 800 in a single day.

A large 6.4 earthquake devastated Nepal on November 3rd, collapsing homes and destroying the remote region that it most affected. Over 150 people have lost their lives, and hospitals are at capacity with those injured.

Acapulco, Mexico was devastated by a Category 5 hurricane on October 25th. The storms caused flooding, extreme structural damage, road destruction, affecting over 2 million people.

In response to the Herat earthquake, and the string of smaller quakes since, the GEM MENA team deployed to Afghanistan to provide humanitarian aid to those affected.

GEM Bstrong has embarked on a mission to provide immediate relief to families affected by the recent events in Israel and Gaza.

Over 100,000 refugees have fled from the recent conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, travelling for days in cold temperatures with just the bare minimum they were able to take with them. GEM has deployed to Armenia to distribute humanitarian aid to these individuals, during this crisis.

In response to Morocco’s devastating 6.8 earthquake on September 8th, the GEM MENA and GEM Europe teams are on the ground in Marrakesh, the Atlas mountainous regions, and the surrounding communities offering immediate assistance.

The GEM team is currently on the ground, having responded immediately during the storm. We are prepositioning trucks of aid and will be distributing critical, large-scale supplies to Hurricane Idalia’s most affected zones in the Florida area.

Hurricane Hilary made landfall in Baja California, Mexico on August 20th, bringing in extremely heavy rains. The flooding resulting from this rain destroyed roads and damaged infrastructure

Our GEM BStrong team is on the ground now in Maui, Hawaii, assisting those who have been severely affected by the wildfires. We are distributing our BStrong cash cards immediately to help cover immediate, emergency needs by residents of the island

Il ciclone Freddy è durato 5 settimane, diventando il ciclone tropicale di più lunga durata mai registrato. Quando alla fine è atterrato, il Malawi, in Africa, è stato colpito da inondazioni catastrofiche che hanno avuto un grave impatto sulla popolazione locale.

A partire dal 25 marzo in Mississippi e Alabama, gli Stati Uniti hanno visto decine di tornado abbattersi in diversi Stati. Molti hanno perso la vita e centinaia di altri sono stati gravemente colpiti dai danni ingenti.

Un forte terremoto di magnitudo 7,8 ha colpito la Turchia meridionale e la Siria all'inizio del 6 febbraio. Si prevede che migliaia di persone abbiano perso la vita e innumerevoli altre siano rimaste ferite.

Il 28 gennaio, un complesso di appartamenti di 75 unità a Miami Gardens ha subito gravi devastazioni a causa di un incendio. Più della metà delle unità sono completamente distrutte, mentre le restanti sono inabitabili a causa dei gravi danni provocati da fuoco, fumo e acqua.

Le piogge estreme in tutta la California hanno lasciato oltre 8 milioni di residenti sotto osservazione per le inondazioni. Dopo che molte aree dello Stato hanno ricevuto più della metà delle precipitazioni annuali solo dal 26 dicembre, inondazioni, smottamenti e venti estremi erano tutti rischi da affrontare.

Il 21 novembre, sull'isola di Giava, si è verificato un potente terremoto. Il disastro, di magnitudo 6,9, ha colpito la città di Cianjur, distruggendo migliaia di edifici e causando pesanti frane.

Il 10 novembre 2022 la tempesta tropicale Nicole ha toccato terra come uragano di categoria 1 lungo la costa orientale della Florida, a sud di Vero Beach. Il nostro team è intervenuto immediatamente dopo la tempesta, preparato e pronto a fornire qualsiasi assistenza necessaria.

L'uragano Lisa si è intensificato nelle acque dei Caraibi e ha toccato terra in Belize, nel nord del Guatemala. GEM ha risposto immediatamente dispiegando una squadra e inviando container.

Il 24 settembre 2022 l'uragano Ian, di categoria 4, ha causato danni catastrofici lungo la costa meridionale della Florida, lasciando migliaia di sopravvissuti devastati. GEM Bstrong, in collaborazione con la Contea di Dade, ha dispiegato squadre, caricato camion e stabilito collaborazioni nelle aree colpite.

Il 18 settembre 2022, l'uragano Fiona ha causato inondazioni catastrofiche e interruzioni di corrente in diversi comuni di Porto Rico. GEM BStrong, insieme al nostro partner di lunga data #Yonomequito, è stato sul posto per fornire kit di prima necessità per le famiglie e acqua.

Il 14 giugno 2022, le piogge monsoniche hanno provocato la più grave inondazione della storia recente del Pakistan. Più di un terzo del Pakistan è stato sommerso dalle acque; decine di milioni di residenti sono stati colpiti e centinaia di migliaia sono stati sfollati dalle loro case.

Alla fine di luglio, con 100 strutture distrutte e almeno quattro morti, l'Oak Fire e il McKinney Fire bruciano in tutta la California.

Gravi inondazioni nel Kentucky orientale hanno causato 40 morti. Le case sono state distrutte e le strade sono state spazzate via, lasciando le comunità isolate.

Il numero totale di incendi nell'Unione Europea dall'inizio del 2022 è quasi quattro volte superiore alla media di 15 anni per lo stesso periodo.

Il 24 maggio 2022, un uomo armato ha ucciso diciannove studenti e due insegnanti e ne ha feriti molti altri nella Robb Elementary School di Uvalde, in Texas.

Più di 1.000 vigili del fuoco sostenuti da bulldozer e aerei hanno combattuto il più grande incendio attivo negli Stati Uniti sabato dopo che i forti venti lo hanno spinto attraverso alcune linee di contenimento.

Il 29 aprile un tornado che ha danneggiato più di 1.000 edifici nel Kansas centro-meridionale ha generato venti fino a 165 mph (266 kph) e scavato un percorso di distruzione quasi 13 miglia (21 chilometri)

Il 25 febbraio 2022, il secondo giorno dell'invasione, il GEM BStrong è arrivato a Medyka, in Polonia, lungo il confine ucraino-polacco, offrendo aiuto e sostegno ai rifugiati in fuga dall'Ucraina.

Il 9 gennaio 2022, una stufa malfunzionante è stata all'origine di un incendio in un condominio del Bronx che ha ucciso 17 persone, tra cui otto bambini, diventando uno dei peggiori incendi della città.

Il 10 dicembre 2021, nella notte, un violento tornado a lunga traiettoria ha causato gravi danni in alcune parti degli Stati Uniti centrali e meridionali, tra cui il Kentucky, colpendo numerose città, tra cui Mayfield, Princeton, Dawson Springs e Bremen, con un bilancio di oltre 70 vittime.

Il 5 novembre 2021 un'ondata di folla a un festival musicale di Houston si trasformò in una tragedia mortale, con otto morti e molti feriti.

A causa delle ultime circostanze, il fenomeno dei senzatetto negli Stati Uniti è aumentato drammaticamente e nel 2021 si stima che ci siano attualmente 552.830 senzatetto.

Il 26 agosto 2021, nel tardo pomeriggio, il Centro nazionale uragani ha emesso un avviso di uragano per alcune parti della Louisiana costiera, tra cui New Orleans. Una tempesta di categoria 4 ha colpito le comunità causando inondazioni significative.
