GEM bstrong is air dropping food, water, hygiene, medicine and Starlinks to cut off communities in the Western North Carolina mountains. Thanks to @thehorseshoefarm we popped up a flight operations control room and landing pad in Hendersonville. Pilot Joe and Pilot Scott will be in the skies all week making sure our team can respond to SOS calls in real time. So far, we have responded to Black Mountain, Pensacola, Green Mountain, Swananoa, Asheville, Bat Cave, Chimney Rock, and Cattail Creek.
@aerialrecoverygroup is supporting our team with ground reconnaissance in the areas where information in scarce and situations are unknown.
We are especially grateful to Joe Rich, Scott Fowler, Kevin Goad, David and Scott Knoblauch, Brian Leonard, Gary Seymore, and Ross Johnson for providing the aviation equipment without which these operations would have been impossible.

It has been an incredibly busy week at our GEM USA West branch. We had the privilege of hosting a visit from Cal OES at our warehouse, where we shared our upcoming plans to assist families affected by the Park Fire. During the tour, we introduced Jeff Popovich, Director of Global Warehousing for GEM, and provided a brief overview of how we utilize our Warehouse Management System (WMS) to manage all operations. Additionally, the Cal OES Public Information Officer (PIO) is scheduled to visit us in the coming week.
Now that the Park Fire has been fully contained, our GEM USA West teams have been actively working with affected families to support their recovery and assess their living conditions. After conducting intake assessments with several families, we have provided those in semi-permanent and permanent housing with essential items such as mattresses, bedding, cleaning kits, and more. #GEM #california #ParkFire

Hurricane Helene is rapidly intensifying and poses a significant threat to coastal communities. As a Category 2 hurricane, it’s expected to make landfall tomorrow with forecasters predicting Helene could reach Category 4 strength as it moves into the extremely warm waters in the Gulf of Mexico, with maximum sustained winds ranging between 130 and 156 mph. GEM ground teams are prepositioning emergency supplies and resources in vulnerable areas.

The flood wave that has swept through southern Poland has caused enormous destruction and led to the deaths of at least five people. The fight against the flood has not yet ended, so it is still difficult to estimate the losses. GEM Europe team is now operating in the regions most affected by this historic flood.
Thanks to cooperation with firefighters and local authorities, we were able to distribute aid to the remote villages and towns. Some towns are completely flooded and still cut off from the world, and can only be reached by helicopter. Firefighters are still evacuating people. There is no power and no service throughout the region which makes it hard for rescuers to communicate with each other. More and more villages and towns are being flooded. In order to respond to the needs as quickly as possible, a semi truck with humanitarian aid from GEM Europe warehouse in Warsaw is already arriving in Kłodzko. Today the team will continue to provide aid to those in need.

Monday planning meetings of @globalempowermentmissionua mission leads of Zaporizhia, Kherson, Donetsk, Summy, Dnipro, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions of Ukraine. These regions are covered by our GEM HGBF food, wash and shelter programs.
These guys hand deliver over 8000 pallets of aid per month to the families living in the frontline areas supporting over 550,000 people. They risk their lives daily to do the work that no one else does, getting aid directly into people’s hands.

Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) teams respond to most disasters within the first 1-2 days. In the wake of Hurricane Francine, GEM was on the ground immediately after the storm made landfall assessing needs. Our teams are already delivering aid to distribution centers across Louisiana, providing critical relief to communities impacted by the hurricane. Today, GEM delivered multiple pallets of supplies to the New Orleans Convention Center, where they will be distributed starting tomorrow for a one day event called, The Big Health Expo presented by the Urban League of Louisana.
GEM also made a delivery in Houma, Louisiana, where the Terrebonne Civic Center will be distributing disaster relief at their Multi-Agency Resource Center. Food and supplies are now available for pickup with many residents in this parish still without power.
Additionally, GEM has delivered a pallet of water and tarps to the Bayou Dularge Fire Station to support their upcoming distributions for local residents. This is the same station GEM partnered with following Hurricane Ida in 2021.
