GEM:世界で最も効果的な災害救援団体のひとつ

Three years ago today, the Maui wildfires changed our island forever. In the days that followed, Global Empowerment Mission responded alongside the Maui community, and three years later, we are still here. What began with emergency relief and the Westside Distribution Center grew into a long-term commitment to helping families rebuild their lives. Over the past three years, GEM has distributed critical supplies, helped hundreds of wildfire survivors secure housing through the Rental Assistance Program, provided housing placement and rental assistance services through the Maui Relief TANF Program, placed ADUs for families rebuilding on their land, and helped create a temporary campus for Sacred Hearts School so students could return to the classroom. As recovery evolved, so did our role. GEM became the prime administrator of the Maui Wildfires Disaster Case Management Program, supporting survivors as they navigate the complex path toward long-term recovery. And when the Kona Low storms brought devastating flooding to communities across Hawaiʻi earlier this year, the lessons, partnerships and systems built through Maui helped us respond again. Today, GEM is helping lead the expansion of disaster case management statewide, strengthening Hawaiʻi’s ability to support communities through this disaster and those that may come in the future.None of this work happens alone. We are deeply grateful to the State of Hawaiʻi Department of Human Services for their trust and partnership throughout Maui’s recovery, and to @StableRoadFoundation and @MauiBrewingCo for standing beside us from the earliest days and continuing to invest in Maui’s families and communities. Most importantly, we thank the survivors who trusted us, the community organizations that worked alongside us, our incredible staff and volunteers, and the people of Maui who have shown the world what resilience, compassion and aloha truly look like.Three years later, the work continues. We remember those we lost. We honor those still rebuilding. And we remain committed to standing with Maui for the long road ahead. To learn more, visit GEM.org #mauistrong #maui #hawaii #wildfires

One year ago this month, catastrophic flooding changed the Texas Hill Country forever. Families lost loved ones, homes, businesses, and communities built over generations. GEM made a promise to stay for the long haul. Then, just 12 months later, disaster struck again. As new flash floods impacted many of the same communities still rebuilding, GEM USA Southwest teams were back on the ground within hours, delivering emergency relief where it was needed most.Over the past year, thanks to the generosity of our donors and partners, GEM has:• Distributed 204+ truckloads of humanitarian aid• Provided more than $1.07 million in direct cash assistance• Delivered rental assistance to displaced families• Transitioned into long-term recovery with $24,500 in drywall for rebuilding efforts• Launched our Tools Program, providing $15,000 in tools to help tradesmen get back to work• Coordinated 1,000+ volunteers• Awarded more than $675,000 through our Small Business Grant Program to 44 local businesses• Served 1,200 households across nine Texas counties• Distributed more than $4 million in humanitarian assistanceWhile the headlines faded, GEM never left.Recovery isn’t measured only by homes rebuilt, but by businesses reopening, families returning home, and hope being restored. That’s why we established our permanent GEM USA Southwest office, to stand with Texas for as long as recovery takes. This work would not have been possible without the support of our funding partners James Avery, Inc., Sergey Brin Family Foundation, Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, National Christian Foundation, and OneStar Foundation, along with our resource partners Good360, United Rescue Alliance, Four Hands Furniture, AFX Lighting, and every donor who made this mission possible. As the 2026 floods bring new challenges to communities still recovering from 2025, our commitment remains unchanged.Because recovery doesn’t end when the news cycle does. It takes commitment. It takes partnership. And it takes all of us.To help families recovering from the 2025 and 2026 Texas Hill Country floods, visit the link in our bio or www.gem.org.
