Celem GEM jest zapewnienie natychmiastowej pomocy regionom dotkniętym klęskami żywiołowymi. Kiedy dochodzi do katastrofy, mobilizujemy nasze zasoby i jesteśmy na miejscu w ciągu 48 godzin, aby pomóc poszkodowanym. W ramach naszego filaru Disaster Recovery istnieją dwie fazy: natychmiastowa reakcja i pomoc długoterminowa. W pierwszej fazie GEM pracuje nad przeniesieniem pomocy humanitarnej i dostaw na dużą skalę do tych, którzy są pozbawieni zasobów. Pomoc ta różni się w zależności od różnych katastrof, ale zazwyczaj ma postać żywności, wody, artykułów higienicznych i tymczasowego schronienia. W miarę jak reakcja przechodzi w kolejną fazę długoterminowej pomocy, GEM będzie na miejscu, pomagając w odbudowie zapasów, artykułów gospodarstwa domowego, materiałów czyszczących i budowlanych i nie tylko. Wszystkie te wysiłki są podejmowane we współpracy z lokalnymi partnerami, rządami i mieszkańcami, aby jak najlepiej ustabilizować i ożywić społeczność.
