Phase 1 : Réponse immédiate
The GEM LATAM team is presently on the ground in Rio Grande Do Sul, Brazil responding to the recent extreme flooding. Over 1 million homes are without access to water, tens of thousands of people have been evacuated and placed in shelters, and countless more have been affected. Presently we are holding large-scale aid distributions in Novo Hamburgo, Lomba Grande, Estrela, Campo Bom, Lajeado, São Leopoldo, and Porto Alegre of food, water, blankets, and hygiene supplies. Additionally, our team is also assisting displaced residents with finding access to shelters.
In the first two weeks on the ground we have been able to support over 5,000 families with over 100 tons of critical supplies. The GEM LATAM team will be on the ground in Brazil indefinitely offering all those affected with humanitarian aid and continued support.
