The organization is dedicated to responding to crises worldwide, whether caused by natural disasters or man-made events, by assessing damage and determining where aid is most needed. Kimberly shared insights into the mission’s work, explaining how they mobilize quickly to bring relief to affected areas.

KAHULUI, Hawaii (Island News) - There's a rental assistance program for Maui wildfire survivors who do not qualify for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assistance. The state's Department of Human Services (DHS) funds it, and works with a non-profit called Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) to run it.

CHICO, Calif. — After providing relief to war and disaster-stricken areas like Ukraine and Gaza, Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) is deploying volunteers in Butte and Tehama Counties in light of the Park Fire, and other recent fires like the Thompson Fire in Oroville.

BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - More resources are becoming available to those impacted by the Park Fire. A supply drive-through giveaway will be taking place Monday at 2341 Floral Ave. in Chico from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. "We're definitely here for the long-term recovery," operations director for the US-West division of Global Empowerment Mission Elizabeth Jernberg said.

The emergency grants, which are awarded in three categories according to the extent of damage incurred, are intended to help with recovery and rebuilding activities. Homeowners whose homes were destroyed will receive grants of up to $400,000.00. Those whose properties have suffered severe damage will receive up to $150,000.00 and those with minor damage will receive grants of up to $50,000.00. The Rebuild Jamaica initiative was launched in partnership with Global Empowerment Mission (GEM).

On Tuesday, Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) Hawaiʻi unveiled its warehouse stocked with beds, comforters, and other household essentials to begin its aid to at least 300 wildfire-afflicted homeowners in a multi-year rebuilding process. “The idea is to get them back on their land, plant the flag, and have a solid place to live while they begin the rebuilding process,” said GEM Hawaiʻi Executive Director Danielle Dreis.

Efforts to secure a school site and plan for the new temporary campus at Ka’anapali began in earnest in late 2023. This collaborative effort involved multiple stakeholders, including school officials, the Diocese of Honolulu, Lahaina’s Maria Lanakila Catholic Church, the property’s landowners Rodger and Lisa May of Pineapple Properties, Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), Stable Road Foundation, Ka’anapali Beach Resort Association, and numerous volunteers and community members. Design work began in November 2023, and construction commenced in February 2024.

A collaborative effort — including school officials, the Diocese of Honolulu, Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), the Stable Road Foundation, Hawaiʻi Off Grid and numerous others — gave way to the new Kāʻanapali campus at 2530 Kekaha Drive. LAUDERHILL, FLA. (WSVN) - South Floridians are stepping up this weekend to send support to people on the Caribbean islands that were hit hard by Beryl. 7News cameras captured boxes packed with donations at Donna’s Caribbean Restaurant in Lauderhill, Saturday. Volunteers collected canned goods, hygiene products, blankets and many other items. The boxes will go to Global Empowerment Mission in Doral, which will ship the boxes to areas that need them the most.

Global Empowerment Mission, a relief nonprofit organization, was among those bringing aid to Grenada. Its first shipment landed Thursday, and another, for the Grenadines, was slated to arrive in Barbados on Sunday, said Michael Capponi, the organization’s president.
