The Canadian province of Alberta has experienced 122 wildfires in 2024 already. As of late, the historic town of Jasper suffered tremendous damage from an out-of-control wildfire, burning over 79,000 acres. Thousands of residents were forced to evacuate, with many still uncertain of the state of their community, businesses, and homes. Early reports state that the city has lost over 50% of its buildings, with 1/3 of the city being completely destroyed. The GEM team is on the ground in Alberta, working with local experts, to reach those most affected by the fires and offer financial support.
