DORAL, FLA. (WSVN) - Volunteers with the Global Empowerment Movement were hard at work in preparation for the potential devastation of Hurricane Milton. Just a few weeks after GEM sent truckloads of supplies and goods to the west coast of Florida, Milton’s impending arrival caused them to step up once again to help the communities that will be impacted.

ABC News’ Will Reeve takes a look at how Americans from all across the country are pitching in to help some of the hardest hit areas in the region just one week after Helene.

Following Hurricane Helene, Global Empowerment Mission, a nonprofit focused on solving humanitarian challenges, is distributing aid, including food, water, hygiene supplies, cleaning materials, tarps, and pet supplies in Asheville, North Carolina and Perry, Florida.

Partnering up with Global Empowerment Mission, Farm Share has mobilized essential food, water, and supplies to the following 29 counties: Gadsden, Liberty, Suwannee, Columbia, Citrus, Hernando, Marion, Pasco, Dixie, Franklin, Walkulla, Taylor, Leon, Hamilton, Hillsborough, Levy, Madison, Sarasota, Lee, Pinellas, Putnam, Alachua, Jefferson, Gilchrist, Volusia, Lake, Calhoun, Charlotte, and St. Johns.

MIAMI - Volunteers from Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) are working tirelessly to support victims of Hurricane Helene, with many families facing devastation. Ashley Turchin, whose family lives in one of the hardest-hit areas, shared the urgency of the situation. "My parents, my brother, my nephews, they all live in North Carolina. It's really surreal. It's unreal. It's the saddest thing I've lived through, and thank God for GEM and all the people showing up and making a difference," said Turchin, who is also volunteering to help with the relief effort.

The Town of Palm Beach United Way said money raised in the Hurricane Helene Recovery Fund will be distributed to nonprofits including Americares, which is working in Florida, North Carolina and Tennessee to provide essential medical supplies to Helene survivors; Global Empowerment Mission, which has established locations in Perry, Florida, and Asheville, North Carolina, to distribute food, water, ice, cleaning supplies, pet supplies and more; and World Central Kitchen, which has teams in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina working to provide free meals through a network of "Rapid Response Field Kitchens."

The nonprofit is the local arm of the nonprofit national Dream Center outreach ministry. To support residents who have been displaced from their homes by Hurricane Helene, Airbnb.org is working with the Florida United Methodist Conference (FLUMC), United Way, Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), and 211 contact centers in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia to offer free, temporary housing. Stays are completely free for guests and are funded by Airbnb.org and the generosity of Airbnb hosts — many of whom offer their home for free or at a discount through Airbnb.org.

DORAL, FLA. (WSVN) - The Global Empowerment Mission and South Florida groups work together to help Hurricane Helene victims in one of Florida’s hardest-hit areas. Hurricanes are not new to Floridians but the images of the destruction it leaves behind never get easier to witness. People lose their homes, businesses and sometimes their lives.

Millions across the southeastern United States are reeling after Hurricane Helene roared ashore overnight. Helene made landfall on Florida’s Big Bend as a Category 4 hurricane – the strongest on record to strike the area.

(WSVN) - Help is on the way for residents in North Florida impacted by Hurricane Helene, as volunteers with Global Empowerment Mission assembled family necessity kits and hygiene kits to be shipped upstate. 7News cameras on Friday captured volunteers putting together the kits at GEM’s warehouse in Doral.

Global Empowerment Mission teams ready to hit the ground running to distribute relief supplies in areas hardest hit by Hurricane Helene. CEO Emily Fullmer says they sent six trucks with 120 pallets to North Florida ahead of the storm so they can begin their work immediately. She says kits come equipped with water, hygiene products, tarps and generators. Crews will go back and forth to their headquarters in Doral bringing supplies to those in need as long as they are needed.

Ahead of Hurricane Helene making landfall on Florida’s Big Bend region tonight, two South Florida organizations are preparing to deliver aid to the most impacted areas across the state. The groups, Global Empowerment Mission and Farm Share, are partnering to provide water, food, personal hygiene supplies and other essential items to those affected by the hurricane.

Nonprofits, like the Global Empowerment Mission in Doral, are committed to providing disaster relief and assisting communities when they’re the most vulnerable. GEM has been on the ground for many natural disasters, conflicts, and storms and organizers say, this time is no different as they prepare to help after Hurricane Helene.

Smaller villages hit by flooding have no mobile network or even electricity, an aid worker in Poland tells the BBC. "Services like firefighters, rescuers cannot communicate with each other," says Wiktoria Maciejewicz, director of field missions in Europe for the Global Empowerment Mission charity

Approximately 100 families in St. Thomas are now better able to rebuild or repair their homes, following the passage of Hurricane Beryl on July 3. Partners on the initiative include the World Food Programme (WFP), Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), Jamaica Red Cross, Food For the Poor, Social Development Commission (SDC), and the Adventist Disaster Relief Agency (ADRA).

TNN News had the opportunity to speak with Kimberly Bentley, Director of Field Operations for North America and the Caribbean at Global Empowerment Mission. The organization is dedicated to responding to crises worldwide, whether caused by natural disasters or man-made events, by assessing damage and determining where aid is most needed. Kimberly shared insights into the mission’s work, explaining how they mobilize quickly to bring relief to affected areas.

KAHULUI, Hawaii (Island News) - There's a rental assistance program for Maui wildfire survivors who do not qualify for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assistance. The state's Department of Human Services (DHS) funds it, and works with a non-profit called Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) to run it.

Michael Capponi, founder of the nonprofit organization Global Empowerment Mission, said that it was clearly God’s work that brought together entities such as his agency, landowners Rodger and Lisa May, and Stable Road Foundation owner Ed Freedman to work with the Diocese of Honolulu and other groups to make Sacred Hearts School’s new campus a reality.

CHICO, Calif. — After providing relief to war and disaster-stricken areas like Ukraine and Gaza, Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) is deploying volunteers in Butte and Tehama Counties in light of the Park Fire, and other recent fires like the Thompson Fire in Oroville.

BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - More resources are becoming available to those impacted by the Park Fire. A supply drive-through giveaway will be taking place Monday at 2341 Floral Ave. in Chico from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. "We're definitely here for the long-term recovery," operations director for the US-West division of Global Empowerment Mission Elizabeth Jernberg said.

The emergency grants, which are awarded in three categories according to the extent of damage incurred, are intended to help with recovery and rebuilding activities. Homeowners whose homes were destroyed will receive grants of up to $400,000.00. Those whose properties have suffered severe damage will receive up to $150,000.00 and those with minor damage will receive grants of up to $50,000.00. The Rebuild Jamaica initiative was launched in partnership with Global Empowerment Mission (GEM).

On Tuesday, Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) Hawaiʻi unveiled its warehouse stocked with beds, comforters, and other household essentials to begin its aid to at least 300 wildfire-afflicted homeowners in a multi-year rebuilding process. “The idea is to get them back on their land, plant the flag, and have a solid place to live while they begin the rebuilding process,” said GEM Hawaiʻi Executive Director Danielle Dreis.
