GEM 2025  Mission

Pakistan Flooding 2025

Fas 1: Omedelbar respons

Pakistan is currently in the midst of its monsoon season, causing extreme rainfall and flash flooding. Since July, over 930 people have died from housing collapse, landslides, and drowning, and over 2 million people have been evacuated & displaced. GEM Mena is currently on the ground responding to the affected zones and offering assistance to displaced and affected residents. As the rainfall continues, the risk for further loss of life, loss of critical infrastructure, and the loss of crops is extremely concerning. Pakistan’s increased vulnerability to these weather patterns puts their +250,000,000 residents at risk every monsoon season. Although local farmers rely on this rainfall for their crops, the extreme storms are becoming more and more destructive annually. The GEM team also responded to Pakistan’s 2022 floods, which took the lives of over 1,700 people and displaced millions.

The GEM Mena team is currently on the ground in Pakistan, distributing food and supplies to those in need. The monsoon weather patterns are continuing, causing extreme difficulty delivering aid into many regions.
