GEM and its partners are on the ground distributing supplies for the aftermath of this major hurricane, which caused destruction from July 2 – onwards. Hurricane Beryl has affected the Caribbean significantly, with heavy destruction and damage across St. Vincent, Grenada, Jamaica, and other surrounding islands. Additionally, Beryl also caused major damage in Mexico and Texas, leaving millions without access to power, and with property damage.
We are packing and sending large-scale humanitarian aid onto air cargo and trucks, landing in all the affected zones. From our Doral, Florida Headquarters, we immediately began packing critical supplies, and sending cargo planes of aid on July 3rd to Grenada, and to Jamaica on July 5th, with more since. Furthermore, we have sent trucks of aid to Texas, and procured supplies in Mexico for distribution. We have team members deployed to support affected individuals with critical aid on the ground in Grenada, St. Vincent, Tulum, Jamaica, and Houston.
The GEM team is providing food, water, hygiene supplies, tarps, generators, mattresses, other necessary supplies, and construction materials in some regions, to those impacted by Hurricane Beryl.
In Jamaica alone, GEM has distributed over $400,000 in humanitarian aid supplies to seven communities in Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth, South Manchester, and Rocky Point in Clarendon. Notably, GEM was able to deliver $84,000 worth of generators to families and shelters in this region, providing access to power to many without.
