Katastrofhjälp

Global Empowerment Mission i samarbete med BStrong reagerade i den första fasen, katastrofhjälp, genom att dela ut generatorer till de äldre med dialysapparater.

  • Organisationen samarbetade med Puerto Ricos partner på plats, Yo No Me Quito, och var på plats inom 48 timmar efter jordbävningen den 7 januari 2020.

Gap-perioden

Global Empowerment Mission i samarbete med BStrong reagerade i den andra fasen, den s.k. gap-perioden, genom att dela ut 20 000 BStrong-presentkort direkt till överlevande från jordbävningen i skyddsrummen i städerna Ponce, Yauco, Guanayilla, Guanica och Peñuelas.

Philippines
On September 30th, the Philippines was struck by a 6.9 magnitude earthquake. It was the strongest earthquake ever recorded in Northern Cebu, and was followed by thousands of smaller aftershocks.

Afghanistan Earthquake 2025

Afghanistan
On September 1st, a 6.0 magnitude shallow earthquake struck the Eastern Afghanistan provinces of Kunar & Nangarhar. The quake was felt as far as Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, & India; USGS reports over 1.2 million people felt the earthquake & it’s 5 aftershocks.

Guatemala
Over the last two weeks, over 350 earthquakes have been felt across Guatemala. Thousands have been affected, with hundreds of homes experiencing extreme damage, forcing families into becoming displaced.

Pakistan Flooding 2025

Pakistan
Pakistan is currently in the midst of its monsoon season, causing extreme rainfall and flash flooding. Since July, over 930 people have died from housing collapse, landslides, and drowning, and over 2 million people have been evacuated & displaced.

On July 4th, Kerr County, Texas, was devastated by a catastrophic weather event as months’ worth of rainfall fell in just four hours. The resulting flash floods caused the Guadalupe River to overflow, severely impacting the communities of Hunt and Kerrville.

Myanmar & Thailand Earthquake

Myanmar
On March 28th, a massive 7.7 quake struck near Myanmar’s city of Mandalay, followed by a 6.4 aftershock. The effects of the quake has trapped hundreds of people inside destroyed buildings and rubble, with crews working to free stuck people.

On March 15, multiple heavy tornadoes struck down in Missouri. These extreme storms took the lives of many and caused severe destructions across many communities. The GEM team responded immediately to Bakersfield and surrounding communities, and are on the ground now.

Argentina Floods

Argentina
On March 7th, Bahía Blanca and Cerri, Argentina were hit with over a year’s worth of rain in just eight hours. The heavy water quickly damaged roads, bridges, cars, housing, infrastructure, and the region. There have been 16 confirmed deaths, and still over 100 people missing.
