Katastrofhjälp

Global Empowerment Mission i samarbete med BStrong reagerade i den första fasen, katastrofhjälp, genom att dela ut generatorer till de äldre med dialysapparater.

  • Organisationen samarbetade med Puerto Ricos partner på plats, Yo No Me Quito, och var på plats inom 48 timmar efter jordbävningen den 7 januari 2020.

Gap-perioden

Global Empowerment Mission i samarbete med BStrong reagerade i den andra fasen, den s.k. gap-perioden, genom att dela ut 20 000 BStrong-presentkort direkt till överlevande från jordbävningen i skyddsrummen i städerna Ponce, Yauco, Guanayilla, Guanica och Peñuelas.

In response to Morocco’s devastating 6.8 earthquake on September 8th, the GEM MENA and GEM Europe teams are on the ground in Marrakesh, the Atlas mountainous regions, and the surrounding communities offering immediate assistance.

The GEM team is currently on the ground, having responded immediately during the storm. We are prepositioning trucks of aid and will be distributing critical, large-scale supplies to Hurricane Idalia’s most affected zones in the Florida area.

Hurricane Hilary made landfall in Baja California, Mexico on August 20th, bringing in extremely heavy rains. The flooding resulting from this rain destroyed roads and damaged infrastructure

Our GEM BStrong team is on the ground now in Maui, Hawaii, assisting those who have been severely affected by the wildfires. We are distributing our BStrong cash cards immediately to help cover immediate, emergency needs by residents of the island

Our GEM Europe team is on the ground in Greece, responding to the 90 active fires within the country. We have been coordinating with local and foreign first responders to best reach the most affected communities.

GEM är förpositionerat för att omedelbart kunna sättas in vid översvämningskatastrofer i USA. Vi arbetar för närvarande med de historiska översvämningarna i Vermont och kommer att distribuera lastbilar med Family Necessity Kits, vatten, hygienartiklar, madrasser och mycket mer.

Explosion i Kakhovka-dammen

Ukraina
Den 6 juni utsattes Nova Kakhovka-dammen i Kherson-regionen för fientliga angrepp och bröts igenom. Dammen har en vattenvolym på 18 000 000 m³, och förstörelsen har i slutändan lett till att detta vatten allvarligt har påverkat de 80 närliggande bosättningarna.
