Fas 1: Omedelbar respons

The GEM MENA team, alongside our partners HCI & ONSUR, is presently on the ground in Tyre (Soor), Lebanon supporting displaced families and individuals. The ongoing conflict and crisis in Lebanon has left roughly 80% of the population in poverty, with the crisis growing. Many families have been forced from their homes, leaving them vulnerable and in need of basic supplies. Over 15 containers of food were brought by GEM to Lebanon to support over 70,000 individuals with food, hygiene, and other critical supplies. Distributions of our Family Necessity Kits are currently taking place at different points in South Lebanon.

GEM remains committed to humanitarian aid distributions wherever there is need, and we are grateful for the support that allows us to continue these vital missions.

Oklahoma Tornado

GEM is presently on the ground in Enid, Oklahoma where a massive tornado destroyed over 40 homes and tore through neighbourhoods. Considered the strongest tornado of the year, so far, the storm has caused disruptions to power and water systems and to the Vance Air Force Base.

Georgia Wildfires

Multiple wildfires are currently burning throughout the state of Georgia, with containment efforts stalled due to dry conditions and high winds. The fires have destroyed dozens of homes, forced evacuations in many communities, and put +1,000 more structures at risk.

After a series of 19 typhoons and tropical depressions, Vietnam is facing one of the most severe disasters in recent years. Over 400 people have died, 727 have been injured, and more than 337,000 homes have been destroyed.

Orkanen Melissa

Karibien
Vårt erfarna GEM-team i Karibien, med bas i Kingston på Jamaica, leder storskaliga humanitära insatser över hela ön som svar på orkanen Melissa. Storskaliga hjälpleveranser pågår och miljontals kilo viktiga förnödenheter distribueras.

Alaska Typhoon

Den 12 oktober drabbades Yukon-Kuskokwimdeltat i avlägsna Alaska av resterna av tyfonen Halong, vilket ledde till svåra översvämningar. Katastrofen är en av de mest destruktiva i regionen sedan jordbävningen i Alaska 1964.

Jordbävning i Filippinerna

Filippinerna
Den 30 september drabbades Filippinerna av en jordbävning med magnituden 6,9. Det var den kraftigaste jordbävningen som någonsin registrerats i norra Cebu och följdes av tusentals mindre efterskalv. Sjuttiofem personer miste livet och hundratals hem har förstörts.
