GEM MENA team, together with the @hcicanada youth ambassador @renadfromgaza, distributed hundreds of hygiene kits to families within the tent villages of Deir al-Balah in Gaza.
The families were extremely grateful for this aid and were truly shocked at the quality of the products. They told us that a lot of these items have not been seen in the markets since before the war.

GEM teams deployed out to another Tekeia (field kitchen) in Gaza to distribute flour and beans.
This kitchen cooks meals for over 2000 people in the surrounding tent community. People very happy to see the team arrive with fresh supply as their store was almost empty.

Φάση 1: Ανακούφιση από καταστροφές
Στις 6 Φεβρουαρίου, δύο μεγάλοι σεισμοί έπληξαν την Τουρκία και τη Συρία νωρίς το πρωί, ενώ οι μετασεισμοί συνεχίζουν να σημειώνονται περισσότερο από μία εβδομάδα αργότερα. Δεκάδες χιλιάδες άνθρωποι έχασαν τη ζωή τους, ενώ αμέτρητοι άλλοι τραυματίστηκαν. Μέχρι τον Ιούνιο του 2023, πάνω από 8 εκατομμύρια σπίτια και κτίρια έχουν επιβεβαιωμένα πληγεί, αφήνοντας εκατοντάδες χιλιάδες εκτοπισμένους. Ο σεισμός του Καχραμανμάρας θεωρείται πλέον η πιο θανατηφόρα φυσική καταστροφή της τελευταίας δεκαετίας τουλάχιστον. Λόγω της πρότασης της GEM για οποιαδήποτε παγκόσμια καταστροφή, η ομάδα μας μπόρεσε να αναπτυχθεί άμεσα και να βρεθεί στο σημείο την ίδια ημέρα.
Η GEM BStrong είχε μια αρχική δέσμευση ύψους 10.000.000 δολαρίων σε κρίσιμη βοήθεια, η οποία αυξήθηκε γρήγορα σε 20.000.000 δολάρια μόλις μπορέσαμε να δούμε το απροσμέτρητο μέγεθος της καταστροφής. Αμέσως μπορέσαμε να αναπτύξουμε φορτηγά αεροπλάνα μέσω μιας συνεργασίας με την τουρκική πρεσβεία στην Ουάσιγκτον και το γενικό προξενείο στο Μαϊάμι μέσω της Turkish Airlines. Αυτή η βοήθεια θα έρθει με τη μορφή τροφίμων, προϊόντων υγιεινής, κλινοσκεπασμάτων και σκηνών, ειδών ένδυσης διάσωσης και άλλων. Καθώς οι ανάγκες αυξάνονται και εξελίσσονται, το ίδιο θα κάνει και η ανταπόκρισή μας.
Τα κεντρικά μας γραφεία στο Μαϊάμι της Φλόριντα, το δυτικό υποκατάστημα των ΗΠΑ στο Τσίκο της Καλιφόρνια και το ευρωπαϊκό υποκατάστημα στη Βαρσοβία της Πολωνίας συγκεντρώνουν προμήθειες αυτή τη στιγμή για να τις στείλουν στην Τουρκία και τη Συρία. Όλα τα αγαθά που θα συγκεντρωθούν θα μεταφερθούν στην αποθήκη μας στη Μερσίνα της Τουρκίας και θα διανεμηθούν στις πιο πληγείσες περιοχές σε όλες τις σεισμικές ζώνες.
Since February, we have distributed tens of thousands of our Family Necessity Kits to affected families in both Turkey and Syria. We have also been able to distribute major quantities of hygiene products, new clothing, new shoes, bedding and home goods. We have reached hundreds of thousands of individuals in 7 provinces, reaching almost 200 cities. Just as we do in our other branches, we have established long-standing infrastructure to be able to sustain both Turkey and Syria for the long term.
