Katastrofiapu

Global Empowerment Mission vastasi ensimmäisessä vaiheessa katastrofiapuun tekemällä yhteistyötä Global Citizen USA:n kanssa. Välttämättömät tarvikkeet, kuten vesi, ruoka, henkilönsuojaimet ja puhdistusaineet, kuljetettiin meritse Anchorageen ja kuljetettiin sitten Tulusakiin. Tämä koostuu 8 kuorma-autolastillisesta pullotettua vettä, joka sisältää 160 kuormalavaa. 4 kuorma-autolastillista puhdistusaineita, joissa on 75 kuormalavaa, 1 kuorma-autolastillinen käsihuuhdetta, jossa on 26 kuormalavaa, 1 kuorma-autolastillinen ruokaa, jossa on 26 kuormalavaa, ja 1 kuorma-autolastillinen henkilönsuojaimia, joissa on 26 kuormalavaa.

Over the last two weeks, over 350 earthquakes have been felt across Guatemala. Thousands have been affected, with hundreds of homes experiencing extreme damage, forcing families into becoming displaced.

Pakistan is currently in the midst of it’s monsoon season, causing extreme rainfall and flash flooding. Almost 200 people have died from housing collapse, landslides, and drowning. GEM Mena is responding to the affected zones and offering assistance right now.

On July 4th, Kerr County, Texas, was devastated by a catastrophic weather event as months’ worth of rainfall fell in just four hours. The resulting flash floods caused the Guadalupe River to overflow, severely impacting the communities of Hunt and Kerrville.

Myanmar & Thailand Earthquake

Myanmar
On March 28th, a massive 7.7 quake struck near Myanmar’s city of Mandalay, followed by a 6.4 aftershock. The effects of the quake has trapped hundreds of people inside destroyed buildings and rubble, with crews working to free stuck people.

On March 15, multiple heavy tornadoes struck down in Missouri. These extreme storms took the lives of many and caused severe destructions across many communities. The GEM team responded immediately to Bakersfield and surrounding communities, and are on the ground now.

Argentina Floods

Argentina
On March 7th, Bahía Blanca and Cerri, Argentina were hit with over a year’s worth of rain in just eight hours. The heavy water quickly damaged roads, bridges, cars, housing, infrastructure, and the region. There have been 16 confirmed deaths, and still over 100 people missing.

Volcano Fuego

Guatemala
In San Juan Alotenango, Guatemala the Fuego Volcano was slowly erupting, spewing ash and lahar across neighbourhoods. Hundreds of residents have been evacuated from surrounding regions, as well as multiple school and road closures, with tens of thousands more evacuations expected.

Early January 7th, the Santa Ana winds sparked wildfires throughout many areas of LA County. Most devastating have been the Palisades and Eaton Fires, destroying thousands of acres of land and thousands of homes & structures.
