GEM has been on the ground serving the victims of the Camp Fire in Butte County within days of the wildfire.

This outlines what GEM has done to date in Butte County.

• GEM worked alongside Cal Fire Chief PIO officer, Steven Kauffman. He was able to bring us into the restricted areas while the fire was still burning. GEM/Bstrong had already been collecting goods through our partners around the country. By day 8, we had a full size 18 wheeler truck with food and supplies and a 26 foot UHaul arrive to Silver Fairgrounds. Officer Kauffman contacted the American Red Cross and we were given access and approval to distribute Visa Gift cards to 6 of the main RC shelters. We also delivered goods from our trucks individually to each shelter as well as supplied the RC main distribution center with our trucks of aid. 8 pallets of food were given to the firefighters at Silver Fairgrounds that were high in protein. At this time, there was approximately 5800 firefighters working.  We also supplied gift cards to firefighters and police who had lost their homes. See letter from Cal Fire.

• GEM was asked by Senator Jim Nielsen’s office to located and procure children’s respirator masks and overnight them for immediate distribution as other NGO’s had no children’s mask on supply. GEM supplies over 600 masks.

• GEM/Bstrong distributed approximately $70,000 in Visa Cards. These funds were raised through our Bstrong Initiative through our board member, Bethenny Frankel through BStrong. See video links below:

• GEM purchased blankets at Wallmart and gave every survivor at the Wallmart tent city blankets, supplies and Visa cards. We did this for 3 rounds the entire time that the tent city was up.

To date we have successfully put over 80 survivor families back to work by purchasing tools, equipment, work-boots etc.  We have personally followed up with them and learned that they are now working and able to support themselves once again.
